Reduce Shipping Cost

One of the downsides of coming from such a beautiful, isolated, little country way down at the bottom of the earth is shipping costs. Although not too bad to Australia, most countries are a fair distance from New Zealand so keep the following things in mind when making an order.

Some tips to help minimize shipping cost

Watch the weight

Be mindful when ordering larger, heavier items.

Watch bulky, light items

Potato Chips, Crackers, Cereals... light but bulky products like these are charged by volume. 150g of potato chips takes up a lot more space than most products and is charged accordingly.

What’s the product packaging?

Shipping weight also includes the product container and packaging. Cans and cardboard packs are heavier than those of products packed in plastic and that extra weight is a component of costs. Expensive to ship – large items, liquids and products packed in glass containers.

Economies of scale

There is a fixed price to 2kg so a 500g parcel will cost the same as a 2kg parcel - add a bit more to make economic use of the shipping cost.

Product weights can be misleading

Product weights do not include the weight of their packaging. Shipping is also charged on the higher of actual weight or volumetric weight so a large light product may increase shipping weight more than a small heavy product.

We do all we can to ensure that shipping is at the best price and put no mark-up on shipping.

Planning ahead, watching the weights and placing larger orders less often are the best ways to keep your costs down.

* Gross product weights are calculated automatically and allow for the weight of product packaging so will differ from the product net weights displayed. The shipping weight of light, bulky products is often more than the actual product weight. The total cost of shipping will be displayed before you finalise your order.
